Every taxicab in the District is required to have a working digital meter provided by a Digital Taxicab Solution (DTS) or Option for Payment Technology (OPT) provider. These providers supply the meter, roof light, payment processing, and optional backseat console for all taxicabs in the District. DFHV advises drivers to contact or visit providers’ websites for more details and carefully evaluate the features and pricing options. DFHV will publish the list of approved DTS providers every year no later than August 1.
Drivers must select or renew their DTS no later than September 1 of every calendar year
Although some DTS providers offer shorter contracts, DFHV limits DTS contracts to a maximum of one year, September 1 - August 31, to protect drivers and expand their choices.
