Every taxicab in the District is required to have a working digital meter provided by a Digital Taxicab Solution (DTS) or Option for Payment Technology (OPT) provider. These providers supply the meter, roof light, payment processing, and optional backseat console for all taxicabs in the District. DFHV will publish the list of approved DTS providers every year no later than August 1st.
Drivers must select or renew their DTS no later than September 1 of every calendar year, but they have the option to change DTS providers throughout the year subject to contract terms.
Although some DTS providers offer shorter contracts, DFHV limits DTS contracts to a maximum of one year, September 1 - August 31, to protect drivers and expand their choices.
Current DTS Period September 1, 2025 – August 31, 2026

DFHV advises drivers to contact or visit providers’ websites for more details and carefully evaluate the features and pricing options for the next DTS period: September 1, 2025, through August 31, 2026.
