DFHV collects trip and location data from taxis, limos, and ride-hailing companies that operate in the District. The data we collect helps us reunite passengers with lost items, investigate complaints, and keep track of the health of the industry.

Taxi data sets are published on the District Government Open Data Portal from 2015. It is available for download as a zip file containing pipe (|) delimited text files for trips by month. Data sets were processed to assign block locations to pick up and drop off locations. The blocks were assigned using the original pick up, drop off lat/long coordinates and searching for the block locations in the DC Master Address Repository (radius tolerance of 250 meters and less). The pick and drop off times were also rounded to the nearest hour. Ride-hailing data sets are not publicly available.
