Taxicab Commission Cancels August 1 Meeting

Monday, July 30, 2007
Concerns for attendance and parking availability mandated the change.

Contact: Leon J. Swain, Jr., Chairperson, (202) 645-6005

The Chairperson of the District of Columbia Taxicab Commission (“Commission”) has canceled a community meeting on meters scheduled for 6:30 pm on August 1, 2007 at the Martin Luther King Jr. Library at 9th and G Streets NW.

According to Leon J. Swain, Jr., Chairperson for the Commission, “the Office is concerned that the attendance at the meeting will overwhelm the site and parking availability is a concern. In addition, a targeted short telephone survey of District residents and a written survey of members of the taxi industry will allow for a broad input. Swain further indicates that this survey will be conducted during the month of August 2007.

In addition, persons who are interested in commenting on meters in the District are encouraged to email the DC Taxicab Commission to provide comments. The Commission anticipates setting up a comment hotline during the month of August as well.
