Friday, December 14, 2012
Servicing revisions necessary to manage increased demand

Contact: Neville Waters (202) 645-6020

(Washington, DC)–The DC Taxicab Commission (DCTC) announces that office hours for Driver Services will be revised effective Wednesday, December 19, 2012. The increased demands for driver and vehicle licensing and the pressure to expand the number of Sedan class vehicles require this change to service hours. The Commission will service customers from two suites–204 and 234–at 2041 Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, SE.

Customers can pick up Face IDs and drop off One Stop Applications in Suite 234 Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Lost and Found services and the release of impounded vehicles will be available in Suite 204 Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.

The renewal of Face IDs for Taxi, Limousine, Not Valid for Hire and Taxi/Limousine Licenses will be available on Tuesdays and Wednesdays only from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm. New Limousine Driver Applications will be available Thursdays and Fridays only from 8:30 am to 3 pm. The renewal of company, association and independent operating authority registrations as well as any Special Event Permits will be available on Tuesdays only from 8:30 am to 3 pm. For customers seeking in-person One Stop Applications services will be seen only on Mondays from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm.

“The administrative staff of the Commission must deal with the increased demand for services including the over 1,800 applicants who recently passed the limousine licensing exam,” said DCTC Chairman Ron M. Linton. “We will also experience pressure to issue new taxi licenses and register new public vehicles for hire in all three categories; taxis, limousines and the new sedan class. The revised service hours reflect our desire to ensure efficient operations.”
