Dory Peters is a Certified Public Manager, a passionate public servant who has served the District of Columbia for 19 years. For the past four years, she served as the Chief of Staff for the Department of For-Hire Vehicles (DFHV) where she has managed the agency’s budget and operations including Client Services, Enforcement, Human Resources, Procurement, Grants, and Facilities. Dory Peters also oversees DFHV’s transportation programs including DC Neighborhood Connect, DC School Connect, TransportDC, VetsRide and others that help provide more equitable transportation options for District residents. She was selected as a finalist for the 19th Annual Cafritz Awards for Distinguished DC Government Employees.
Peters has supported the taxi industry by helping secure funding for the Mayor’s Taxi Industry Economic Relief Project. She marshalled support from the taxi industry, Department of Motor Vehicles, Office of Tax and Revenue, and other agencies. Prior to the DFHV, Peters served as the Deputy Director of the Mayor’s Office of Asian and Pacific Islander Affairs where she brought together community leaders, property owners, and government agency partners to work together on a community development plan that was eventually approved by the DC Council as the Chinatown Small Area plan.
