Taxicab Commission Announces Informational Hearings on "Passengers' Failure to Pay"

The hearing is scheduled for 10:00am Thursday, October 20, 2011 at One Judiciary Square, 441 4th Street, NW, Old Council Chambers, Washington, DC 20001.

The District of Columbia Taxicab Commission will hold an “Informational Public Hearing” on Passengers’ Failure to Pay. This hearing is for input from the drivers and riders to help define the extent of the problem and possible solutions.

The hearing is scheduled for 10am, Thursday, October 20, 2011 at One Judiciary Square, 441 4th Street, NW, Old Council Chambers, Washington, DC 20001. Anyone who desires to address the Commission is encouraged to register by Wednesday, October 19, 2011 by 4:30 pm by calling (202) 645-6018 to register with Ms. Mixon.

Registered speakers will be called in the order in which they registered. After all registered speakers have had an opportunity to speak; any other attendees will be given an opportunity to speak. All speakers are limited to 5 minutes. This meeting will begin promptly at 10 am and will conclude at 4 pm

This is the initial Information Public Hearing in the Commission’s plans to hold these hearings from time to time on a variety of issues affecting drivers and riders. In addition to the Informational Public Hearings that will be restricted to a specific topic, the Commission plans to schedule Community Meetings in each of the District’s 8 Wards to hear from the community their concerns and desires for taxi service. These are in addition to the regularly scheduled General Commission meetings.
