Snow Emergency Fare Period Declared

Wednesday, March 21, 2018
Dangerous Weather and Hazardous Road Conditions Expected

The Department of For-Hire Vehicles (DFHV) today announces the Snow Emergency Fare is in effect from 10:00am. The Snow Emergency Fare adds a flat $15.00 per trip to the metered taxi fare for trips originating in the District of Columbia.  The extra fare is in effect for 12 hours unless extended as determined by the weather conditions. All Transport DC services are suspended during this time.

All motorists are advised to stay off the streets for safety and to allow plow trucks to perform their snow removal duties. Drivers that must go out including for-hire operators are advised to drive with caution especially over bridges, ramps and overpasses.

For-hire drivers in service are advised to monitor the DFHV web site to be aware of possible announcements or emergency communications. Riders who encounter service problems with any for-hire vehicles are advised to contact DFHV Client Services at [email protected].
