September 12 General Commission Meeting Cancelled

Tuesday, September 11, 2012
The volume of comments causes rescheduling.

The DC Taxicab Commission (DCTC) today cancelled the General Commission Meeting scheduled for Wednesday, September 12. The cancellation is due to the need for the Commission to consider the large volume of comments received regarding its proposed amendments pertaining to the implementation of the Taxi Smart Meter System (TSMS) and the standardization of the taxicab dome lights. The Commission will consider these matters at their Special Meeting scheduled for the following Wednesday, September 19 at 10 am.

The agenda for the Special meeting will now consist of the following items: (1) republication of amendments to Chapters 5, 6, 8, 11, 13 and 15 of DCTC’s regulations pertaining to TSMS and the standardization of the dome lights that are currently in effect on an emergency basis; (2) proposed regulations to establish a Sedan-class of public vehicles-for-hire; and (3) the adoption of emergency regulations to implement the $0.50 passenger per trip surcharge.

Chairman Ron M. Linton said, “We believe it is important to take the time to fully consider the considerable feedback regarding TSMS and the new dome lights. Thus, in order to be mindful of the time commitments of all the Commissioners, combining our business into one meeting was the most efficient use of everyone’s time.”

The DCTC meeting will be held at 441 4th Street, NW in the Old Council Chambers on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at 10 am. The meeting is open to the public.
