Shared Riding

"Shared Ride" - consists of two (2) or more passengers, which involves a common pick-up location and either common or slightly different destination, in which no segment is more than a 3-mile radius from the preceding segment or common route, and which is arranged by a starter who may be the operator. Shared Rides may be from or to any location and may be arranged through digital meters approved by the Department of For-Hire Vehicles.

  • Only one flag drop shall be charged, regardless of the number of passengers, and shall be split by the number of segments.

  • A rate of $1.20 per mile shall apply to shared rides instead of the standard rate of $2.16 per mile following the flag drop rate.

  • The standard wait time rate of$25.00 per hour shall apply and shall be apportioned amongst all segments.

  • The passenger surcharge of $0.25 shall be added for each segment.

  • The snow emergency fare of $15, when authorized, shall be split equally among each segment.

  • The $1.00 additional passenger fee shall not be charged.

  • In the event of a toll incurred, the toll amount shall be split between passengers in the taxicab when the toll transaction occurred. Driver shall manually enter the toll amount and the meter calculates the appropriate share for each passenger.

  • A passenger's shared ride fare shall be based on how many miles and amount of time passenger was actually in the taxicab.
