Taxicab Commission and Metropolitan Police Department to Hold Session on Safety Concerns of Taxicab Operators

Friday, April 25, 2003

The DC Taxicab Commission and the Metropolitan Police Department will hold its first open dialogue session to discuss concerns of District taxicab operators.

The meeting will be held at 7:00 pm on Thursday, May 1, 2003. The location of the meeting is the Seventh District Police station located at 2455 Alabama Avenue, SE, Washington, DC 20020.

Among the concerns that will be addressed include taxicab operators reporting criminal acts to police, police response time to crimes reported by taxicab operators and heightened awareness of possible acts of terrorism with an emphasis on military installations.

The DC Taxicab Commission and Metropolitan Police Department anticipate having additional meetings throughout the year in each of the different wards in the city. The next meeting has been tentatively scheduled for early July 2003.
