The Department of For-Hire Vehicles (DFHV) is raising public awareness of free transportation programs available to DC residents and visitors during the St. Patrick’s Day festivities on Friday, March 17, 2017.

Yellow Cab Company is offering the Safe Ride Program on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, from 9 pm to 3 am. Call (202) 420-7533 for a Safe Ride home for up to $20. The passenger will be responsible for the difference if the fare exceeds the $20 limit per trip. All trips must originate from the District of Columbia, from a bar or restaurant or entertainment venue and the destination must be a residential address.

The Washington Regional Alcohol Program (WRAP) SoberRide Program will be offered from 4 pm Friday, March 17 until 4 am Saturday, March 18, 2017.  Download Lyft to your phone, then enter the code “SOBERRIDE” in the app's 'Promo' section, and receive up to $20 off one ride taken in the Washington, DC coverage area. Users are financially responsible for anything over $20. Valid for new and existing Lyft users. You must be 21 or older to use the SoberRide service.

“These programs help to ensure greater Washington, DC residents have a safe ride home and prevent accidents and fatalities from drunk driving,” said DFHV Director Ernest Chrappah.

Riders can share their experience with Safe Ride or SoberRide by tweeting @DC_DFHV; or by emailing [email protected].
