DC taxicab driver Seraw Miteku earned praise for the excellent service he provided to the Mayor – that is, the Mayor of Kansas City - Mr. Sylvester “Sly” James Jr.

As he was rushing to make a flight, Mayor James left his wallet in Mr. Miteku’s taxi. Mayor James wrote to Mayor Vincent C. Gray to describe the lengths this driver went in order to find him. Mr. Miteku went back to the Capitol Hilton Hotel where the ride originated to determine the airlines where Mayor James could be found and then delivered the wallet to the airport before the plane departed.

Mayor James said of Miteku Seraw…“Your service and good charter were both needed and welcomed as I tried to figure out how to get home without my ID, credit cards, or money. I am and remain most grateful to you for your extraordinary assistance.”

This action helps to set a fine example for the District of Columbia public vehicle for hire industry. Mr. Miteku represents the high quality level of service that passengers should come to expect and of which the DC Taxicab Commission is proud to highlight.
