The DC Taxicab Commission (DCTC) is delighted to announce that as of Monday, January 27, 741 vouchers of the 3,000 in total have been downloaded since the incentive program began on January 15. As a reminder for District taxicab owners there are only a limited number of $200 vouchers available to offset the cost to paint vehicles in the uniform color design. All vouchers must be redeemed by June 15, 2014.
The vouchers are available on a first-come, first-serve basis to all DC taxi owners. Eligibility does extend to those vehicle owners who changed equipment before the uniform color design had been adopted and then painted their vehicles prior to the implementation of this incentive program. All owners seeking to redeem their vouchers must adhere to the guidelines to submit to DCTC a copy of their paid invoice, two pictures of their vehicle in the uniform color design and the paint shop sign off on the voucher to qualify for the $200.
Paint shops that are interested in providing their services should contact DCTC Driver Services at (202) 645-4093 or [email protected] to request a copy of the CAD drawings in order to ensure design specifications are met. If the vehicle fails to pass DMV inspection, the vehicle owner is responsible for costs associated with re-painting.
The vouchers and instructions are available at dctaxi.dc.gov/page/uniform-taxicab-color-design-incentive-program. Payments will be made by the DC Treasurer within 6 to 8 weeks of submission of appropriate documents.
