(Washington, DC) – The DC Taxicab Commission (DCTC) today extended the deadline for submitting rental fleet information to obtain the Special Event Permit for out-of-market vehicles for hire for use during the upcoming Presidential Inauguration. The permit is applicable from 5:00 pm on Friday, January 18, 2013 until 5:00 pm on Tuesday, January 22, 2013.

The deadline to apply remains Friday, January 4, 2013; however, companies will have seven (7) additional days until Friday, January 11, 2013 to provide an addendum to their application with the VIN and tag numbers for rental vehicles and a copy of the rental agreement. Applicants should submit the addendum by email to [email protected]. VINs and tag numbers should be attached in the excel spreadsheet template available online along with a copy of the rental agreement in a PDF format.

Special Event Permit applications and the excel spreadsheet template are available at www.dctaxi.dc.gov. Applications must be received by mail no later than Friday, January 4, 2013. The mailing address is: DCTC, 2041 Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue SE, Suite 204, Washington, DC 20020. The Special Event Permit fee is $150.00 per vehicle.

Applicants must submit a completed application with payment for registered vehicles only. Applicants must provide an estimated number of rental vehicles pending the addendum submission but need not submit payment for rental vehicles at this time. 

Special Event Permits will begin to be mailed on January 11, 2013 in the return envelope provided by applicants. Applicants who have submitted an addendum will be able to provide payment for the actual number of rental vehicles and pick up permits in person on Monday, January 14, 2013 on a first-come first-serve basis. The DCTC office opens at 8:30 am.
