The DC Taxicab Commission (DCTC) approved for renewal today the applications of seven Payment Service Providers (PSPs) and three Digital Dispatch Services (DDSs). The PSPs provide credit card service in the District’s taxis and submit trip data to DCTC for analysis. The DDSs offer electronic booking capability to passengers.

DCTC requires these services to undergo an annual review to ensure consumer protection and maintain public safety against identity theft and financial fraud. All PSPs and DDSs are encouraged to periodically review DCMR Title 31 for new updated rules.  Any violation of regulations may result in penalties including suspension and revocation of operating approval.  

The following companies are approved to operate as PSPs: VeriFone; United Ventures Consortium; VIP; Hitch; Transco; Yellow Cab; and Creative Mobile Technologies. The companies that are registered to offer electronic booking for passengers include: My Taxi; Hailo; and Yellow Cab.
