The DC Taxicab Commission (DCTC) Assistant General Counsel Erin Johnson was honored on May 20, 2014 by the D.C. Office of the Attorney General for going the “extra mile” by receiving the Attorney General’s Extra Mile Award. The honor recognizes employees who go beyond the general job responsibilities to help their colleagues no matter what the personal cost. The recipient of this award epitomizes leadership and focus on service to others.

Erin is currently the longest serving attorney in DCTC’s Office of General Counsel. Over the past two years she has provided stellar legal services to the Commission and the Office of Taxicabs. Her advice on various legal issues includes regulatory, enforcement and licensing matters. In addition, she has successfully represented DCTC before administrative tribunals as well as the Office of Administrative Hearings.

A graduate of the Howard University School of Law, Erin believes that public service and congenial communication are essential elements of her work as an attorney. She has made a personal commitment to making sure the job gets done correctly. Through working with her colleagues and understanding the value of teamwork, she has ensured that DCTC services are uncompromised. Thus, DCTC has benefited from Erin’s commitment to excellence, attention to detail, ability to engage others and implement legal strategies to encourage efficiency in the provision of government services.

“We are proud to have Erin on the DCTC team and congratulate her on the recognition for a job well done,” Chairman Ron M. Linton stated. “Her efforts serve as an inspiration to staff and customers.”
