Applications will start being accepted today (January 14, 2013) from taxicab owners for an exemption to the moratorium for placing new vehicles in service prior to July 1, 2013.  In accordance with the regulations in force moratorium exemptions will only be allowed for equipment replacements and companies adding vehicles to their fleet. Owners must agree to sign the agreement to comply with rules to repaint their vehicles to conform to the Uniform Color scheme that may be developed by the DC Taxicab Commission in the future.
